Hey Hey Boys and Girls
Your questions are
Nam-Huong describes seeing ghosts everywhere in
the house. Who or what are the ghosts she is referring to?
Nam was so excited to have her bike and to ride it to school. Then the other kids teased her. They tried to make her angry. They tried to make her talk.
Nam said "I wished I wasn't locked up inside.. I wish I could tell them what wild typhoons had blown away my beautiful day".
What do you think she meant when Nam thought this?
Make sure you attempt both questions.

The Little Refugee 2
Hello
Boys and Girls J
After
finishing the podcast of Anh Do’s story, The Little Refugee, please:

b) List one similarity and one difference between the texts The
Little Refugee and Onion Tears, making sure you explain your
answers.
The Little Refugee 1
Read
the following questions carefully before answering them. You may need to look
through the book to help you.
The
Little Refugee by Anh Do and Suzanne Do tells a
story of Anh Do’s journey from Vietnam after the Vietnam War. He and his family
left their country by fishing boat. They experienced extreme heat, storms,
hunger, thirst, attack, loneliness and fear before they reached Australia.
a) How might you feel if you were Anh Do? Refer to a part of the
story read in podcast one and discuss how you would feel in this situation and
why? For
example: I would feel unsafe travelling on a boat from one country to another
because I’m scared of water and cannot swim. I wouldn’t want anything to happen
to the boat while I was at sea.
b) List 5 things that you would take with you if you had to
leave Australia and never return.

Onion Tears
Hello boys and girls and welcome to our reading groups blog.
You have just listened to the podcast on Onion Tears by Dianna Kidd. I hope you have enjoyed the story so far.
Today you are going to make some text to self connections. Look at the questions below and post a response.
Aunty is not really Nam-Huong’s aunt. Do you have any ‘aunties’ and ‘uncles’ who are not related to you by birth?
Our names have meanings attached to them and these are often the reasons for the choice of name given to us. Do you know the meaning of your name? If not, try looking it up!
